The EM-2 residents perform an initial evaluation of ill and injured patients. They are expected to institute initial treatment and diagnostic plans independently. They present their findings in a clear and concise manner and articulate a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic plan. They perform the majority of critical interventions, such as intubations, and manage the majority of critically ill patients. EM-2s focus on the essential EM art and skill of multi-tasking and learning to care for multiple sick and injured patients simultaneously.
