Housestaff are eligible for appointment to the rank of "Visiting Clinical Fellow" at Columbia University. This makes them eligible for use of all of Columbia's libraries, its vast online resources including email, and amenities such as the gym. St. Luke's Hospital is located across the street from Columbia's undergraduate campus, making all of these resources accessible.
Following graduation from the residency or fellowship, Columbia University will issue a certificate commemorating completion of the program.
Columbia University Augustus C. Long Health Science Library
Located on the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons campus in Washington Heights, the library is one of the largest academic health science libraries in the country. Its collection includes over 500,000 volumes, 4400 current periodical subscriptions, and extensive holdings of media, electronic resources, rare books, and archival materials.

Residents must register themselves at the Dodge Athletic Facility, located on the Columbia University Undergraduate Campus. The fee for a 1-year membership is about $220.
For Incoming Residents
The GME Office will distribute instructions for registering for electronic mail and acquiring a Columbia University ID, as soon as the services are available to new housestaff. This process usually takes about 1-2 months.
Registration for the Columbia ID will be done on the 1st floor of the Philosophy Building on the undergraduate campus. They will also issue you your online ID which allows access to online resources like databases and e-journals.
