This program requires an 8-hour a week commitment two 4-hour shifts working in the emergency department (at St. Luke's Hospital). If you choose to do your two shifts at Roosevelt, you will be spending only 6hrs a week in the hospital (Roosevelt shifts are 3hrs long). You may sign up for one shift at each hospital and that will fulfill your weekly requirement as well.
Also keep in mind that in order to remain in the program, you will need to attend at least 4 out 5 of our scheduled workshops. The workshops are approximately 2hrs long and are scheduled about 2 weeks apart. They provide an opportunity for us to discuss upcoming studies, and to talk about existing ones.
At the conclusion of one semester of service, the program director will write a letter of support for students applying for admission to a health professional school.
